Su vicepresidente, (\u00c1lvaro Garc\u00eda Linera) tambi\u00e9n renunci\u00f3, al igual que Adrianna Salvatierra, la presidenta del Senado, quien se supon\u00eda que asumir\u00eda la presidencia en ausencia de Morales. Mientras escribimos este texto la oposici\u00f3n ha arriado la bandera ind\u00edgena wiphala en todo el pa\u00eds. Morales, el primer presidente ind\u00edgena del pa\u00eds, es el abanderado de generaciones de socialistas ind\u00edgenas. Su destituci\u00f3n representa el regreso de la vieja oligarqu\u00eda. Es un golpe contra la llegada de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas de Bolivia a la vanguardia de la historia.<\/p>\n<p>Durante semanas, los manifestantes de derecha han acosado al partido de Morales, el Movimiento hacia el Socialismo (MAS). Han incendiado las casas y oficinas de miembros del partido y han atacado a sus seguidores. Recientemente Patricia Arce, alcalde de Vinto, fue secuestrada por una muchedumbre. Le cortaron el pelo, le tiraron pintura sobre el cuerpo y la obligaron a caminar descalza, humill\u00e1ndola p\u00fablicamente. La masa ha bloqueado la sede de TV de Bolivia y la estaci\u00f3n de radio Patria Nueva. En estos momentos, mientras escribimos, las fuerzas de derecha est\u00e1n saqueando y quemando la casa del presidente Morales y est\u00e1n tratando de arrestarlo.<\/p>\n<p>Esto no es una renuncia. Nadie renuncia con un arma en la cabeza.<\/p>\n<p>La \u00e9lite pol\u00edtica y econ\u00f3mica de Bolivia apoya esta violencia, como parte del resurgimiento de la extrema derecha en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Los activistas locales est\u00e1n siendo aplastados por estas fuerzas. Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, denunciamos esta violencia y tambi\u00e9n preventivamente la violencia que inevitablemente se intensificar\u00e1 en las calles.
